BREADCRUMB

Sharing Our Stories

Hear from our learning community who share their thoughts on leading, learning and playing at Tyee Middle School.

Danielle Virata, Principal

I am truly excited to join the Tyee community. My goal is to collaborate with families and staff to continue to build a welcoming and affirming environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

John Pearson, Teacher

At Tyee our kids are amazing! It’s such a fun atmosphere of learning where students are genuinely curious about issues facing our world and want to make a difference in people’s lives. With our Global Goals projects, our students design their own way to raise awareness of an important issue, and many raise donations and actually serve in our community in so many ways. Even on our badminton and volleyball teams, and with our Future Problem Solvers Club, it’s inspiring to see our kids work together so well and solve future challenges with enthusiasm, dedication, and the heart of a champion.

Malinda Elien, BSD Parent and Bellevue Schools Foundation Trustee

We are happy to be in Bellevue because of the innovative educational opportunities that make Bellevue School District unique — including the integration of Computer Science into our science classes. My daughter's favorite part of 8th grade science was the opportunity to learn how to use computer modeling to explore magnetism, including understanding conditional variables. The Bellevue Schools Foundation has been the key funding partner allowing Bellevue to offer relevant learning opportunities like these to every one of our students, ensuring they have the educational foundations to succeed in whatever they do.

Jaime Hoener, School Counselor

I love working at Tyee.  The best part of Tyee, like all schools, is the students.  They are curious, funny and like us all, learn from their mistakes.  It’s so fun to watch them grow from small adorable 6th graders, to capable humans as 8th graders.  I feel fortunate to be a part of their journey.
